And Harford Hills makes me wish I'd never left the other school. You truly get a sense of 'us against them' at this school. I've had to fight for several issues to be resolved in the past few years and I dont see it changing anytime soon. I've heard several complaints, as well as had my own bad experiences, from the school's secretary. She seems very eager to get you off the phone and doesn't seem interested in assisting you with much of anything. It's unfortunate that this problem exists in what is supposed to be a 'top school'.” Posted By: parent Quality Score: 2 2007-07-29 “After 5 years, Harford Hills elementary has been a great disappoint for our family. This school and administration has created a reputation within our community of being anti-parent and having very low academic standards. MSA scores are the lowest in this area! Faculty transfers out of the school. As parents, we learn of safety occurrences from our children, not from communications sent home from school. Parents are not welcomed at the school. The more involved you are, the more likely you are to leave. Within 5 years, dozens of families have pulled their kids and have moved or are sending them to local private schools. Thus, creating a major 'brain and financial drain' in the school. The New administration has its work cut out for them. Restoring the community's faith in Harford Hills elementary is going to be tough. Classroom instruction is suffering and the general morale in the school is suffering. As a parent who volunteers more than once a week I see the quality of our children's education deteriorating. Parents struggle to fill the void but its a loosing battle as they must battle an unresponsive principal as well.
