Children's Manor Montessori Reviews

My daughter just started attending this school and I plan to pull her out. I dont like that the teachers are all foreign and I can barely understand what they are saying. The office staff are unhelpful and unfriendly. They don't invest in a microwave to heat food so you are not allowed to bring foods from home that need to be warmed...well, try coming up with meal plans for cold lunches for 5 days a week, all school year!! That's ridiculous. U pay all this money and nothing is included, not even courtesy.

This school offers a disciplined atmosphere, which I think is something children need at an early age. It is accommodating in terms of their social development. I did not quite understand Montessori at first, but now, I think it makes a lot of sense, and the children benefit much more in this Montessori school. It's a good experience for every parent! The staff are very pleasant.

Ethnically and culturally rich environment, with trained teachers; Very structured environment. Very good curriculums especially in geography (particularly discussions about continents and countries), reading (well-thought out lesson plans) and math; good attention to environmental education, music and art. Teacher to child ratio good since Montessori provides for self exploration and independence. Teachers are sincerely devoted and very encouraging; Children learn LIFE SKILLS and being more responsible; lots of good group dynamics. Impressive teaching methods. I've seen the changes intellectually in my child after 3 weeks. After 1 week my child was completely comfortable (no crying) and excited to go the next day; we chose 5 days a week and it proved to be a very good decision. We were new to the area, and interviewed 6 other schools before we made our choice for this one. Competitive school fees (very reasonable for the good curriculum that is offered).

we love CMMS! our daughter is 2 1/2 and she is so far ahead. it's great!

I am the mother of two children attending CMMS. My daughter is in 5th grade and has been there for 5 years. My son started at age 2 and is in his second year. The elementary classes have a good tacher/student ratio as well as a great curriculum that pushes the child the right amount. Each student can work at their individual level and most (if not all) of the kids are performing above their grade levels. They are given structure and discipline along with independence. The younger children are given just the right mixture of academics and play/crafts/socialization. My son is extremely happy and looks forward to going to school. The teachers add care and nuturing to each child's day and get to know each student. Prior issues with the office staff have improved greatly and have not been problematic this year at all.

My son is 3 and has been going there for a few months. i see a good return thus far. He is learning and his behavior has improved.

My daughter has been at CMMS and we have been happy with it. She enjoys the activities - Spanish, Gym, Computers, Music - and loves the teachers.

Its not worth to send your children to this school, its a just day care, poor quality of teaching. If want to enquire when your kid is sick, the phone call goes to voice message and never ever expects a return call.

My son went to CMMS, when I took him out of CMMS & he went on the Howard County public school (Waverly Woods) he was below reading grade level. He did not benefit at all from CMMS. It was a big waste of money & my sons' time.

Our daughter has been attending CMMS for the past year and a half (PreK and now Kindergarten). She was in a structured environment at home, but was never in a daycare/school setting. The teachers were very thoughtful and helpful in helping her assimilate to her new school. She has benefited immensely from the curriculum and the social interactions. The programs CMMS offers (Spanish, music, field trips) are wonderful and extremely beneficial to her wellbeing. The diversity in the teachers as well as the students has helped her understand how wonderful our differences are. Her reading and math skills are amazing (she is reading books that they offer 2nd and 3rd graders). She is well above children of her age that are not going there. The classes are mixed with children of relatively the same age, however each child learns at their own pace. The staff is very sweet and loving and really cares for their students. I only have two concerns. Sometimes there is a lack in communications on upcoming events. The monthly newsletters work well perhaps some additional detailed information would help. The other concern I have is with the facility itself. It seems like it is in need of an upgrade. However this should not be reflective of the wonderful teachings that are happening there. I am definitely going to continue her education there.

This school may be good for students who are already adjusted to school life, but not for those who are not. Reasons: 1. Students with more than 1 year age gap are mixed in the same class. 1 year gap is huge if your kid is 2 year old. 2. Too much emphasize on discipline. Kids suppose to play rather than behave like a soldier. I barely heard laughs in the classroom. 3. Student/teacher ratio is higher than many other places so each kid receives less attention. 4. The facility is a little old and the hallways are so dark. The A/C is also not enough in the classroom. 5. The school is not very patient with kids who need a longer transition time. I believe the default time is less than 2 weeks. After that, your kid may be expelled.

My son has been attenging CMMS over a year now and has improved a whole lot in speaking. He loves the school as well as his explorers teachers. Overall his class teachers are phenomenal. I don't believe they are paid well at all. Which raises a concern on how other teachers performance. Also the head mistress is unapproachable and never around the school. There are times that the toilets are so dirty and no hand soap for the kids. She was no where to be found to make her aware of this.

I am having a satisfactory experience, my daughter has been going to Pre-K and we like it.

Our son has been attending CMMS since he was 2.5 years old. He is now in Kindergarten at CMMS. Academics/Curriculum: Teachers and the school very focused on maintaining high academic goals for all children. Our son has benefitted tremendously from the curriculum, the discipline to follow through, and the social interactions. Enrichment Programs: FREE Spanish, Music, and Computers program! Holiday Concert and Spring Concert put on by the children each year. Paid programs include gymnastics and soccer. Bring back the dance program! Numerous age-appropriate field trips during the school year. Tuition: Lowest rates in town AND fewest days closed. Front desk: Lots of staff turnover. Teacher Attrition Rate: Long-term teacher and aide staff (10+ years). Diversity: Lots! Physical Facility: This is the only reason I have taken off a star. The physical plant needs major updating. But I would rather the school pay its excellent staff well and put the focus

CMMS provides competitive tuition fee comparing to other established daycare within the area. The teachers are good but the teacher student ratio is too high. Only two teachers with a class size of 24! I understand that in a montesorri school, it s normal to have a ratio of 1:30. But CMMS is not a conventional Montesori School, CMMS just have the material of Motersori but the essence of it. Instead of mixing all ages together, CMMS has them divided by the ages, not their abilities. If the child is in the primary class setting, he s stuck in this setting,, even though he/she may be bright and talented to be in Kindergarten setting because it s not a conventional Montesorri School. Children do not have their own individual learning plans as other children in conventional Montesorri School do.

CMMS has very good academic program. My children learned a lot compare to the day care they have been before. But I am not to crazy about their front desk. The quality of administrative staffs has declined since previous staff all left.

Its not worth to send your children to this school, its a just day care, poor quality of teaching. If want to enquire when your kid is sick, the phone call goes to voice message and never ever expects a return call.

My son has excelled at CMMS. He has been there for K and 1st grade and the education he is receiving is amazing. He reads on a much higher grade level and gets the one on one he needs. I am so glad I found this school!

I am very satisfied with CMMS. My daughter has completed PK and Kindergarten here. Her teachers give individual attention to each child, customize homework to eachj child's skill level. They provide a warm, caring and fun environment for the children. They have arts, music, gymnastics, Spanish and computer classes in addition to academics. They also take the kids on Field Trips, average 6-7 per year. Parent Action Committee (PAC) is very productive, initiating teacher birthday celebrations, teacher appreciation week, fund drives, etc. Tuition is reasonable. Before & After Care is available. Excellent diversity of students.

CMMS is a WONDERFUL school. From 2 years old and up. The teachers are wonderfully caring and very creative. It is a wonderful place for learning-they instill a love of learning from the beginning. My daughter is finishing up Kindergarten and is reading CHAPTER BOOKS! She is also doing all sorts of math and comes home everyday with something new that they have learned be it science, etc. Every class we have been in has been a wonderful learning experience. They have Spanish, Gymnastics as well as music in addition to basic academics. The only downside is that the tuition keeps going up and although it is in line or less than other schools in the area, raising it $50 or more per month every year is a big pill to swallow for parents. It is well worth the money though to give your child a good start and this school is awesome.
