Chesapeake Science Point Public Charter School Reviews

i for one am completely pleased with the education my children get at CSP. This year they even added a cultural arts program and in the past they have offered competitive sports teams that were very successful. I have never had any trouble with the administration or staff--in fact--they are always prepared to discuss any situation that may come up with my children and help me come to a happy resolution. I also think it goes to show how wonderful the staff and school are when the parents of children who have moved on continue to help the mission of CSP be successful in every way. THANK YOU to EVERYONE who makes this school a place for my children to call a second home.

because of the huge success csp has in math and science and the poor quality of neighboring middle schools, many parents whose kids have no interest in math and science send them here. the quality and rigor and expectations are much higher than these kids have ever had. some are not interested in teh hard work necessary to succeed here, especially when they see their peers slacking off at other schools. however for the child truely interested in math and science who is willing to work hard and take advantage of the many free tutoring opportunities this school is a godsend! outside math and science, the engish and turkish classes are particularly well taught. oil painting club is very popular as well. don't come here expecting not to work and work hard however!

the school, though academically sound, is lacking in the physical education area. no lessons are taught, it is just recess time.

The Math and Science program is good, however, there is no focus on anything else. The students are pushed too hard to succeed, and too much emphasis is put on test scores. If all you care about is standardized testing, then this is the place. But if you want to raise a happy, well-adjusted child who will be exposed to liberal arts, electives and sports, consider one of the other schools in the county. The administration is not open to addressing parental concerns (other than the one parent whose child is no longer at the school but who continues to make most of the decisions for the others anyway.) CSP started out as a good thing, but a few people let power go to their heads and and have lost the best interests of the kids they teach (the whole reason for going to a charter school in the first place).

students work hard and get top honors -- teachers and volunteers have made this THE SCHOOL

CSP is a school that doesn't teach to the state standard, they go far beyond! This is exactly why CSP students had the highest MSA's in Anne Arundel County and the second highest in the state.

My boys are finally being challenged in a public school. They have some great before and after school activities that the teachers do voluntarily!! My oldest even got to go to Turkey with several teachers and classmates this past summer!

My daughter began CSP in 2006 and now my son has been there for 2 years. It is the most awesome school-based environment a parent and a student can ask for. The structure and focus is great and minimizes normal social and teen interuptions normally found in all schools. It was a shame my daughter could not go to CSP in high school because the Board of Ed did not allow for the expansion of the high school. Our public school system should use CSP as a benchmark for their other schools. What makes this school stand out is that is is back to the simple and basic standard that a school environment is set up for learning. This concept has been lost and is now obvious in this school. That is why the other schools do not measure up. Bring this concept back to the other public schools!

i went to CSP, the teachers are nice and the students afe friendly there, you can't find any better education than any other schools. i recommend CSP to those middle schoolers. trust me they will have a good experience there. this school is like no other

I am so impressed with CSP. For the first time, my child is challenged in school. The teachers are so dedicated, and very accessible to both the students and parents. There are many extracurricular activities, mostly aimed at academic achievement, and very small classes so that each child gets personal academic attention. Nobody falls through the cracks at CSP, and every child is given the support and encouragement needed to excel. You can't find this quality of education elsewhere without paying a hefty tuition. I can't recommend CSP highly enough.

CSP is the best school I have ever dealt with. The academics are superior and the teachers are talented and dedicated to the childrens success.

CSP is an outstanding school. The teachers are highly qualifies and dedicated to providing a top notch education to children. I would highly recommend CSP above all of the other area schools.

CSP has only been open for 2 1/2 years and my son has been here since the beginning. Finally, a place where he can be challanged! This school is dedicated to a rigorous math, science and technology program. I have never met such dedicated and talented teachers. Parent involvement is exceptional, also. We, the parents, students, teachers and staff have all become an extended family. CSP is an excellent example of how schools should run.

The staff is very dedicated and go above and beyond. In my opinion your middle school child will not get a better education.

What a blessing this school is. There are students of different abilities, but there is excellence in the academics and in discipline. No bullying here. Teachers are involved and caring. This is a good preparation to go out into the world after they graduate, this school extends into high school. This country needs those who are proficient in the math, science and technology fields. There are clubs and extra curricular activities, free tutoring and weekly communication with the parents regarding the students grades. The only drawback is so far there isn't much of sports programs. Many around here have their children enrolled in other local programs though. The focus is on academics and school safety.
